Sandbox-style games, one of the most popular game genres of recent times, have already taken their toll, as we know. When the first examples of this appeared, I encountered Dont Starve and decided to try it. I seriously had no idea what to do when I first opened the game with its weird graphics that I likened to Tim Burton drawings and a simple gameplay screen. Lets see that I really spent my days in Dont Starve without even looking at the how many days passed in the top right of the game.

For some reason, as a nation, we love games where you can do whatever you want in an open world. Although games such as GTA, in which action elements are included, are now the anchor of the business, independent game studios are working hard for such games every day and they are trying to approach the whole concept of open world games from a different perspective. Minecraft has already taken the flag and maybe its the first thing that comes to mind when people think of sandbox. However, the details of Dont Starve, which serves the same purpose but has a very different atmosphere, cannot be ignored.

In Dont Starve, we play a scientist named Wilson, who was sent to distant lands by a demon. Our environment is all about wildlife, but in this world where magic and science play against each other, natural life is very variable. Although our general goal is to survive, getting used to it in the first place can cause great difficulties for the player. First of all, if you are used to craft games, it may be a little easier to find your way. However, if you are a serious actor like me who takes on the role of Wilson and knows what to do, its hard for you!

We create various items from many sources around, collect food to survive. Of course, Dont Starves world is always ready to surprise us, bringing with it many dangers, strange creatures and weather conditions. I definitely agree that the atmosphere of the game is unique rather than the gameplay part. The lack of clues and auxiliary elements from the very beginning, the gloomy world, the harmony of simple and gothic graphics prove the purpose of Dont Starve, even for the man who will not understand the game. I have to survive!

Dont Starve will be a good experience for you if youre overwhelmed by Minecraft and its endless mods, if youre a fan of crafting games, or if you really like Tim Burton style drawings. Do not eat the plants you do not know like me; Oh, and dont wander around in the dark at night.
