Flyover Country is a mobile application that provides detailed information about the points you step on or meters above during a flight, walk or field trip. The application, which allows you to track your flight using GPS connection, instantly presents information collected from different sources of the internet.

The main purpose of the application is to inform you about the regions you pass through while traveling by plane. You can see the points you have passed on the geological map and get detailed information. By marking on the map before the flight, you download all the data about the relevant region (geological map, fossil assets, underground information, Wikipedia information, etc.) to your device so that it is ready for offline use. Afterwards, you turn on GPS and you can access location tracking, speed, route and altitude information from the map view.

The offline flight tracking application, supported by the US National Science Foundation, currently offers geological map data for North America, but the developer has stated that it will soon be available worldwide - probably in the next update.
