Download GeForce Experience
Download GeForce Experience,
Were reviewing NVIDIAs GeForce Experience utility, which offers additional features alongside the GPU driver. People who use NVIDIA branded graphics cards already or in the past have definitely encountered the GeForce Experience application and wondered what it is used for and what functions it has.
GeForce Experience is a relatively driver-independent utility. In order to use the hardware, we have to install the drivers, but installing this software on our computer is not mandatory, unlike the drivers. However, if we install GeForce Experience, we can take advantage of some extra features and conveniences.
What is GeForce Experience?
Thanks to this utility from NVIDIA we can install our video card driver, check for updates and install them if available. GeForce Experience can also detect games on the computer and automatically optimize their graphics settings according to the current hardware.
In addition, it provides the opportunity to take screenshots, record videos, and broadcast live on certain channels. Whats more, it has ShadowPlay Highlights that automatically records memorable moments in the game.
How to Download GeForce Experience?
This application comes with NVIDIA drivers and it is your choice to install it as an option. However, since it is a standalone software, we can also download and install it separately.
- In the first step, lets log in to the GeForce Experience official web page.
- After that, lets download the installation file to our computer with the Download now option.
- Then we open the GeForce_Experience_vxxx setup file and complete the standard setup steps.
NVIDIA Driver Installation and Update
GeForce Experience allows us to find the most up-to-date driver suitable for our current graphics card model, download and install it. If no driver is installed, you can install it, and if it is more updated than the currently installed driver, you can download it.
- To do this, we first click on the Drivers tab.
- After that, our current installed driver comes up.
- Click on the Check for updates option in the upper right corner to see if there are more current drivers.
- If there is, we can download the driver from here and then continue with the installation.
Game Detection and Optimization
We said that another skill of GeForce Experience is to detect games and optimize the graphics settings of these games. The list of games supported by NVIDIA is quite extensive. The games detected by the software appear as a list on the main page. The optimization process is done as determined by NVIDIA and based on the power of the existing hardware. However, these settings may not always produce the best results. Therefore, you can make your own settings manually from within the game.
- After the games are listed, lets click on the Details option by hovering over the game we want to optimize.
- After that, just click the Optimize button on the page that comes up.
- In addition, it is possible to customize some settings by clicking the settings icon next to the Optimize button.
- We can choose the resolution and screen mode of the game from the page that comes up.
- More importantly, we have the chance to optimize the game settings at different levels between quality or performance.GeForce Experience
In-Game Overlay
Thanks to the in-game overlay included in GeForce Experience, we can use such features to their full potential. Here, options such as live video recording, screenshot taking and live broadcasting are offered. Live streaming is supported for Twitch, Facebook and YouTube.
To open the in-game overlay, we can activate the In-game overlay option in the General tab after clicking on the settings (cog icon) on the interface.
There are ready-made shortcuts to reach this interface and use various features in the game. The default combination to open the in-game overlay menu is Alt+Z. To reach all the details and settings of the in-game overlay, it is enough to click on the gear icon again.
NVIDIA Highlights
NVIDIA Highlights automatically capture kills, deaths, and highlights from supported games, allowing you to easily review, edit, and share your best and most enjoyable moments after a long day of gaming. For this feature, we can allocate a certain disk space and choose in which folder the recordings will be kept. You can access all Highlights supported games via this link.
NVIDIA FreeStyle – Game Filters
The FreeStyle feature allows us to apply filters on game images through GeForce Experience. The appearance and mood of the game can be completely changed with the fine adjustments you make in color or saturation, and add-ons such as HDR. Of course, in order to use this feature, your GPU model must be compatible and supported in certain games. You can view the list of FreeStyle compatible games via this link.
NVIDIA FPS Indicator
Lets not forget that this interface also offers support for the FPS indicator. We can access this feature, which is included in the in-game overlay, with the HUD layout option in the settings. After turning on the FPS counter, it can also be selected in which position it will appear.
Supported Features
In order to use all these features, our current graphics card must also support these features. In order to see which features our GPU supports or not, we need to look in the Properties pane through the GeForce Experience settings.
