The first game in the Mass Effect series started in 2183. This year, the Milky Way Galaxy we live in became a frequent destination for other alien races, and in time, attacks on Earth began. The human race, overwhelmed by all these attacks, was also building a unique ship and trying to escape from Earth. Mass Effect: Andromeda, on the other hand, will take place 600 years after these events, and humanity will reach the Andromeda Galaxy with the ship he made. Their next mission from here will be to discover a new planet for them to live on.
