Persona 4 (Shin Megami Tensei) is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus. Part of the Megami Tensei series, Persona 4, the fifth game in the Persona series, is among the games ported from PlayStation to PC. The game takes place in a fictional Japanese countryside and is indirectly related to previous Persona games. The protagonist in the game is a high school student who has moved from the city to the countryside for a year. During his stay, he summons Persona and uses his power to investigate mysterious murders.

Persona 4 is a traditional rpg game that blends simulation elements. In the game, you control a young boy who has come to the town of Inaba for a year. The game takes place between the real world of Inaba, where the character lives his daily life, and a mysterious world where various dungeons filled with monsters known as Shadows await. Apart from scripted events such as plot progression or special events, players can choose to spend their day as they please by participating in a variety of real-world activities such as joining school clubs, working part-time jobs or reading books, or exploring TV Worlds dungeons where they can gain experience and items.

The days are divided into various times of the day, the most frequently repeated After School / Day Evening and most activities take place during these times. Activities are limited depending on the time of day, the days of the week and the weather. As players progress through the game, they form friendships with other characters known as Social Connections. As the bonds get stronger, bonuses are given and there is a rise in the ranking.

The main focus of the game revolves around avatars, which resemble mythological figures projected from ones inner self and represent the facades worn by individuals to face the challenges of life. Each Persona has its own abilities and strengths and weaknesses of certain traits. As Persona gains experience from combat and leveling up, she can learn new skills, including attack or support abilities used in combat, or passive skills that provide character benefits. Each Persona can have up to eight skills at a time, and old skills must be forgotten in order to learn new ones.

The main party members each have their own unique Persona that transforms into a stronger form after maxing out their Social Connection, while the hero has the Wild Card ability to have multiple Personas that he can switch between them to gain different access during battle. The player can earn new Personas from Shuffle Time and carry more Personas as the main character levels up. Outside of the Dungeons, players can visit the Velvet Chamber, where they can create new Personas or collect previously acquired Personas for a fee.

New Personas are created by combining two or more monsters to create a new creature, taking some skills passed from these monsters. The level of Persona that can be created is limited to the current level of the hero. If the player has created a Social Connection related to a particular Arcana, they will receive a bonus after a Persona related to that Arcana has been created.

Inside TV World, players assemble a party of the main character and up to three characters to explore randomly generated dungeons, each shaped around a kidnapped victim. By wandering through each floor of a dungeon, Shadows can find treasure chests containing items and equipment. Players progress through the dungeon with stairs on each floor, and eventually reach the last floor where a boss enemy is waiting. The player enters battle when they come into contact with a Shadow. Attacking the shadow from behind gives an advantage, while being attacked from behind gives the enemy an advantage.

Similar to the Press Turn system used in other Shin Megami Tensei games, battles are turn-based with characters fighting enemies using their equipped weapons, items, or special abilities of their Personas. Besides the directly controlled hero, other characters can be given direct commands or assigned Tactics that change their combat AI. If the hero loses all of his health points, the game is over and players return to the start screen.

His offensive abilities have a variety of attributes, including Physical, Fire, Ice, Wind, Electric, Light, Dark, and Sublime. Player characters can have strengths or weaknesses against certain attacks, depending on their Persona or equipment, as well as various enemies with different characteristics. The player can knock down an enemy by exploiting their weakness or by performing a critical attack, providing an additional move to the attacking character, while an additional move can be given if the enemy targets a player characters weakness. After a battle, players earn experience points, money and items from their battles. Sometimes, after a battle, the player can participate in a mini-game known as Shuffle: Time and Arcana Chance, which can give the player new Persona or various bonuses, respectively.

Persona 4 Golden is an expanded version of the PlayStation 2 game with new features and story elements added. A new character named Marie has been added to the story. Two new Social Links for Marie and Tohru Adachi have been included, along with other Personas, character costumes and extended dialogue and anime cutscenes. Another new feature is a garden that produces items that the player can use in various dungeons. Persona 4 Golden is one of the best RPGs ever, offering captivating storytelling and excellent Persona gameplay.
