In the PUBG game, players can choose to enter the match alone, in duos, or in teams of up to four. The last survivor or team wins the match. Each match starts with the players parachuting into the 8x8 km, 6x6 km and 4x4 km long regions. The planes route changes with each round, and players must quickly determine the best time to parachute out of the plane. Players start with no equipment, except for customized outfit choices that dont affect gameplay. After landing on the ground, it searches for weapons, ammo in buildings, towns and elsewhere. Items that help players are procedurally distributed on the map. The possessions of the deceased player can be taken by another player.

In the battle royale game, which can be played from a first-person and third-person camera perspective, the playable area of the map begins to shrink to a random location every few minutes. Players outside the safe area take damage gradually and are eliminated if they do not get to the safe area in time. During the match, random areas of the map are marked in red and bombed. This poses a threat to players staying in that area. However, players are given the opportunity to escape and save their lives, with prior warning. Airplane flying in various areas of the map drops a loot pack containing items that cannot be obtained during the game.

At the end of each round, players earn in-game currency based on their performance. The currency is used to purchase crates containing cosmetic items for character or weapon customization.
