The game, which replaces a hero named Wilson Walker, is about paranormal events. Our hero migrates to a big city from the small town where he was born and grew up to work and stays in this city for a long time. Returning to his hometown after years, our hero feels a strange atmosphere in his home and encounters abnormal events. On top of that, our hero is trying to figure out what happened to his house and he searches for answers by diving into the darkness. Our task is to guide our hero to ensure his survival.

Like FPS games, The Darkness is played with a first-person camera angle. While we encounter different puzzles in the game, we try to find our way in the dark with our flashlight. We collect tips and useful items, use them when appropriate, and open the veil of secrecy. When you face dangers in the game, hiding or running is the most logical solution. It is useful to be careful when using your flashlight; the battery may run out. You also have to explore the house to find the flashlight batteries in the game.
